Kamakhya Tea Trading was founded in 1972 by Shri Pijush Kanti Roy. During the late 1960s, Mr. Roy was associated with Caswell & Co., a tea broking firm registered with the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre. Inspired by the vision of establishing his own enterprise, he decided to venture independently..
His experience at Caswell & Co. equipped him with comprehensive knowledge of the tea trade, including tea tasting, procurement, sales and operations. Leveraging this expertise, Kamakhya Tea Trading commenced its wholesale and retail operations in Guwahati.
In 1978, the firm was formally registered with the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre and has since been serving clients across India and in international markets.The firm is registered with Tea Board of India

How We Procure Our Teas
Our teas are primarily sourced through the Guwahati and Kolkata Tea Auctions, both conducted under the regulations of the Tea Board of India. These auctions provide a transparent and efficient platform for tea procurement, ensuring quality, fair pricing, and consistency.
In addition to auctions, we also procure teas directly from select tea estates across Assam, Darjeeling, and Meghalaya, allowing us to access distinctive regional varieties and maintain close relationships with producers.
Tea auctions remain one of the most reliable procurement channels in the industry, trusted by major organized packeters such as Tata, Hindustan Unilever, Bagh Bakri, Goodricke and leading regional packeters, who depend on auctions for the majority of their tea sourcing.
